Location tracking on an iOS device is managed using both the vWork settings for Location Tracking in the vWork app, and using the iOS device settings for vWork. This article explains how to apply the iOS settings for vWork.
vWork only tracks your location when you are logged in to the vWork app and during the Operating Hours you set in the vWork settings in the vWork app.
- Open the vWork app.
- Tap the Menu bars on the top left of your screen.
- Tap Settings.

- Tap Location Tracking.
- Tap Update Tracking in Settings.
- In the vWork GPS settings for your iOS device tap Location and choose one of the following options to specify when you will share your location:
- Never: Your location is never visible to the Dispatcher when using the vWork app.
❗ Caution: We don't recommend this option.
Your mobile device needs Location Tracking turned on to enable many vWork features such as location-specific Alerts like the ETA Alert, invoicing for distance traveled, and to make it easier for your dispatcher to assign you jobs near your current location. - Ask Next Time Or When I Share: You will be asked each time you open the vWork app if you want to share your location.
- While Using the App: Your location will be visible to the Dispatcher only when you are using the vWork app.
- Always: Your location will always be visible to your Dispatcher - even when you are not using vWork.
- Never: Your location is never visible to the Dispatcher when using the vWork app.
🔔 Important: vWork will never share your location when you are not logged in to the vWork mobile app.
Note: The Allow Tracking option isn't directly related to location tracking. It tracks other analytics gathered when using your mobile device. It doesn't need to be enabled for Location Tracking to work but is useful for tracking what went wrong if your mobile device crashes.
