Capacity is a setting used exclusively for Route Optimization.
Route Optimization is an optional feature. To find out more, or add this to your vWork account, please contact support@vworkapp.com. A member of the vWork Team will be in touch to discuss your requirements.
Alternatively, you can read all about it in the article What is Route Optimization?

Where do I set Capacity values?
Capacity values are set for both User (workers or vehicles) and Jobs included in Route Optimization. You use Capacity to put a limit on the number of standard units a worker can carry for an optimized route.
The article What is Capacity? explains what Capacity is and when you would use it.
Note: The definition your organization uses for Capacity (eg grocery bags, pallets) must be used consistently across your vWork account for Users and Jobs and is not defined in vWork.
Set the Capacity value for my Users
First, you set a Capacity value for a User (worker or vehicle). This is the maximum amount of a standard unit that they can carry on a route.
To set a User’s Capacity:
- Go to Settings > Users > Users > User Management.
- Select the User from the User Management list.
- Under their User Details go to the Capacity field and type in a unit value that is the maximum Capacity for that user.
- Click Update.
In this example, Stan has a maximum capacity of 26 gas bottles. He cannot carry more than 26 gas bottles in his vehicle.
Set the Capacity value for my Jobs
Next, you set the Capacity value for a job or job template. To choose where to set the Capacity value - in the Job or Job Template - ask yourself if the number of units will be different for each job or if it will stay the same?
- When the number of units required for each job varies you should set the Capacity value in each job.
- When the number of units is always the same for all jobs created from the same template you should set the Capacity value in the Job template.
To set Capacity in a Job
- Open the job editor for a specific job: this may be when you create a new job or when you update an existing job from the Jobs, Schedule, Map, or Optimization page.
- In the Job Information tab scroll to Required Capacity.
- Type the value that represents the number of units required to complete the job.
In this example, the customer requested 2 Gas Bottles for this delivery. - Click Create (for a new job) or Update.
To set Capacity in a Job Template
- Go to Settings>Templates>Jobs.
- Select the Job Template from the list or click Add Job Template to create a new template.
- In the Job Information tab scroll to Required Capacity.
- Type the value that represents the number of units required to complete the job.
In this example, every job based on this template will have 2 Gas Bottles delivered by default. This can be edited later in the job if needed. - Click Create (for a new job template) or Update for an existing template.
