In MYOB AccountRight, ‘Items’ are the products or services that your business buys, sells, or uses in its operations. Items can be physical goods such as inventory items, as well as non-inventory items like services or fees. MYOB ‘Items’ is used to enable you to track and report on inventory associated with your MYOB Items and include these in your invoices.
The standard vWork MYOB AccountRight integration works with MYOB ‘Services’ and doesn’t update inventory for tracking and reporting in MYOB. We have an optional add-on to this integration that enables you to use MYOB ‘Items’ with vWork jobs.
With the 'MYOB AccountRight Items’ add-on, vWork job invoices can include MYOB ‘Items’ as line-items that sync with and show in MYOB invoices. MYOB invoices created from vWork job invoices will:
- create a corresponding line-item in the MYOB invoice that shows shipped items when MYOB ‘Items’ are included in the vWork invoice
- adjust inventory levels for ‘Items’ in MYOB to reflect the actual quantity of Items included in the vWork invoice
- enable reporting on item sales in MYOB
- include vWork line-items for services that don’t have inventory included in them.
If you would like the optional ‘MYOB AccountRight Items’ add-on included with your MYOB Integration, please email support@vworkapp.com. Our team will be in touch to talk through your requirements.

Connect vWork and MYOB in the Integration Settings
We explain how to connect MYOB AccountRight and vWork in the article, MYOB AccountRight: Connect vWork to MYOB AccountRight. The article you are reading now provides supplementary information to this article. Both articles should be read together to ensure you set up the vWork Integration with MYOB Items correctly.
MYOB ‘Hybrid’ layout
Some vWork invoices will include both MYOB ‘Items’ and also line-items that are services. To make sure these are generated in an MYOB invoice in an easy to understand format you will need to use a different Invoice layout to the standard ‘Items’ layout or ‘Services’ layout in MYOB. This is achieved by using the MYOB 'Hybrid' layout.
The MYOB 'Hybrid'layout enables you to have both item details and free-form text on your invoices. Your invoices can show line-items for MYOB Items with shipped items, descriptions, prices, and totals, while also having line-items for things not identified in MYOB as an Item but that you include in your invoice. An example of this type of line-item is worker hours automatically generated by vWork after a job is completed, or an after hours delivery surcharge.
Set up the 'Hybrid' layout in MYOB AccountRight
The ‘Hybrid’ layout is set up in the MYOB Sales settings in the online version of AccountRight. Many MYOB AccountRight customers already use the ‘Hybrid’ layout. If you don’t already use this format and need to adjust your Sales Settings to use it, you can find the steps to review and update your settings in this MYOB API Support article,
‘Hybrid layout’ - https://apisupport.myob.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001325496-Hybrid-Layout’.

vWork Integration Settings and MYOB AccountRight Sales Settings
To make sure you can use vWork with MYOB AccountRight to create invoices in MYOB that include MYOB ‘Items’:
- Confirm that the optional ‘MYOB AccountRight Items’ add-on feature has been added to vWork in addition to the optional vWork ‘MYOB AccountRight Integration’ feature. Both are required to run the MYOB integration wiht 'Items'. If you are uncertain if you have this add-on, our support team can help, email support@vworkapp.com.
- Make sure that the MYOB ‘Sales Settings’ are set to ‘Services and Items’.
This is necessary to use the MYOB ‘Hybrid’ layout for vWork generated MYOB invoices. This is explained in more detail in the previous topic.
- When selecting the ‘Account’ in the vWork Integration settings from the listed available MYOB accounts, make sure that you select the same account assigned to the ‘Income Account for Tracking Sales’ used by MYOB for the Items.
This example shows where to look in the MYOB AccountRight Desktop version when looking at an ‘Item’ to identify the account used.
🔔 Note: vWork syncs with a single account so you must use the same account for all Items in MYOB.
