It's important you set up your Android vWork mobile app so that it works in a way that fits with the jobs you do and your work environment. You can adjust the default settings in the vWork mobile app Settings menu.
Note: Some vWork settings for the mobile app are set in your business's vWork account by the vWork Administrator. These relate to the types of tasks you have permission to perform in the app. You can't change these settings in the mobile app.
Open the Settings screen
You open the Settings menu from the main menu - found in the red banner on the Jobs screen.
To open the settings:
- In the Jobs screen, tap to open the main menu.
- Tap Settings to open the Settings screen.
Settings categories
The vWork Android app settings are grouped into five categories:
In this article, we explain how to get the most from the Sync settings. You can read about the other setting categories by clicking the topic links above.
In this article
Sync settings change how your Android device syncs with the server and can also be used to keep a log of data as it syncs with vWork. The Interface settings are grouped under four headings. In this article, we explain each of these groupings as a topic.
Topics include:

Network
The Network settings can't be changed - this is why they are greyed out. These provide information about the network connection to the vWork server and the vWork app version running on the device.
Sync
There is only one setting under the Sync heading; this is Sync in background.
The Sync in background setting is used to set when your vWork app syncs with the server. It provides you with 3 options, the default option being to sync only during operating hours.
We recommend that you keep the default or change it to Always to ensure your job data syncs regularly with the vWork server.
❗ Caution: If you change this setting to Never you must regularly manually sync the vWork app to make sure data saved in the Android vWork mobile app syncs with the server. You risk losing job data if you select this option.
Logging
There is only one setting in the Logging head; this is Log sync errors.
The Log sync errors setting is disabled by default. When enabled this saves a log of your device's sync activity to your device's SD card or internal storage. This log can later be downloaded and shared with our support team if needed. The Log Sync errors setting is useful to enable if you have sync issues with your device. We can use this information to help diagnose the cause.
Note: Every time you disable this setting you delete the Sync log from the SD Card.
Start on Boot
There is only one setting under the Start on Boot heading; this is Start when device is turned on.
The setting Start when device is turned on ensures that your device syncs and location tracking starts (if enabled) when it is turned on and you are logged in to the vWork app. This is enabled by default. We recommend you leave it enabled to ensure job data captured through the Android vWork mobile app syncs with the server.
