Create a job
- Log in to the Customer Portal.
💡 Tip: You can quickly log in from the same email you used to activate the Customer Portal. The 'activation link' in this email becomes a 'Login' link after you have used it to activate your Customer Portal account.
- Click on the 'Jobs' tab on the start page.
- Click to show the types of jobs you can create.
Alternatively, if this is the first time you have logged and you haven't yet created a job, you may see boxes that show job types to choose from. Click the job you want to begin creating it.
- Click to select the type of job you want to create.
🔔 Note: If there is only one type of job you can create you won't get this option.
- In the 'Create a Job' screen complete the job details. What you see here and the information required depends on the job selected.
Fields that display * are required. You must complete this information to create the job.
Here is an example of the type of information you may need to enter.
Customer: You may be able to select a customer if you have permission to create jobs for more than one customer. Click to select the customer that this job is for.
If you can only create jobs for one customer they are automatically added to the job and you won't need to do anything.
Number of jobs: You may have the option to create more than one job with the same job information. Type a number for the total number of identical jobs you want to create. A dispatcher from the service provider who provides the Customer Portal will schedule these jobs for you.
Requested Start Time: You may have the option to select a time that and date. This is a time request. It is not guranteed you will get this time but your service provider will do their best to accomodate this.
Job Address: Most jobs require you to enter an address at one or more of the job steps. Start typing the address then click to select the address from the options available to you. This 'geocodes' the address giving it latitude and longitude coordinates so that it can be seen on a map and navigated to easily by the worker assigned to complete your job.
When a job step is geocoded it shows this icon .
- When you have completed adding the job details click to save the job.
View all jobs
You can view your jobs in the 'Jobs' tab.
Job ID: The Job ID is the unique identifier for the job. You can search for a job using this ID.
Type: The 'type' shows you what type of job it is.
Customer: The 'Customer' is the person or organization that this job is being done for. This may be different from you as the Portal User if you have permission to view jobs for customers that don't have the same name as your Portal User name.
Status: The 'Status' shows you the status of the job. A 'Pending' job is assigned to a worker but they haven't yet accepted the job. It may be assigned to a different worker if they decline it. An 'unassigned' job has been created but is yet to be assigned a final start time and worker. An 'assigned' job has an assigned worker and planned start-time. A 'started' job has had at least the first step completed and is currently in progress. A 'Completed' job has been finished.
Date: The 'Date' can be the 'requested start-time', the 'scheduled start-time' or the 'actual start-time' depending on what status the job has.
Last Completed Step: You will only see something here if the job has started. this shows the last step that was completed for the job.
Actions: Actions show when a job has a geocoded step (click the icon to open the Map) and may also enable you to edit or delete a job if you have been given these permissions.
View an individual job's details
You can view the full job details by:
- clicking on a selected job in the Jobs list
- searching for the job in the 'Search Jobs' field and selecting it.
You can search for a job by Job ID, Customer Name, Address, Job Type, Step Name.
Edit a job
If you have the ability to edit a job you will see this icon in the Actions column highligted in blue. Click this top open the job and update the job information.
Delete a job
If you have the ability to delete a job you will see this icon in the Actions column highligted in blue. Click this to delete the job. It is removed from the Service Providers jobs list and can't be recovered.
