It's important you set up your iOS vWork mobile app so that it works in a way that fits with the jobs you do and your work environment. You can adjust the default settings in the Settings menu.
Note: Some vWork settings for the mobile app are set in your business's vWork account by the vWork Administrator. These relate to the types of tasks you have permission to perform in the app. You can't change these settings in the mobile app.
Open the Settings screen
You open the Settings menu from the main menu - found in the red banner on the Jobs screen.
To open the settings:
- In the Jobs screen, tap to open the main menu.
- Tap Settings to open the Settings screen.
Settings categories
The vWork settings are grouped in the app into four categories:
This article explains how to get the most from Options settings. If you want to learn about the other iOS vWork mobile app settings, click a topic link from the list above.

Disable and enable Options settings
Every setting in the Options category is a toggle.
To enable or disable an Options setting:
- Tap the setting you want to turn on or off to toggle the switch. Green is toggled on and grey is toggled off.
Add timestamp to images
Add timestamp to images is useful for Proof of Delivery, Proof of Condition, and for job audits. When toggled on (green), the time and date are added to photos captured in the Fields screen in an Image field.
Job completed goes to jobs list
This setting relates to the Steps screen.
When toggled on (green), this setting automatically returns you to the Jobs screen when you complete the final step for a job in the Steps screen and you have completed all required fields. This can speed up your day if you are managing lots of jobs.
Back button goes to job details
Back button goes to job details setting relates to how you navigate to the Details screen from other screens in a job.
When toggled on (green), this setting displays in the banner when you aren't in the Details screen but have a job open in the mobile app; for example, when you are in the Fields screen. When you tap in a job screen you are returned to the job's Details screen.
When this setting is toggled off (grey) you will see either Done in the banner or the name of the screen you will be returned to when you tap the back arrow. Tapping Done always returns you to the Jobs screen.
Collapsed field sections
Collapsed field sections is useful to toggle on when your jobs have fields in many sections in the Fields screen. This setting makes it easier to navigate through the fields to complete them.
When toggled on (green), this sets the Fields screen to open with all field sections collapsed (closed) so that only the section headings can be seen when you first open this screen for a job. You must tap a section heading to view and complete the fields in that section.
Example of how this setting changes the Fields screen
Collapsed field sections enabled
This is the Fields screen for a job when it is first opened. The Collapsed field sections setting is toggled on. The fields in each section aren't visible until you tap the section header.
Collapsed field sections disabled
This is the same job with the Collapsed field sections setting toggled off. When you open the Fields screen for this job all fields are visible. You must scroll down the screen to see all fields, but you can tap a section header to collapse that section and hide the fields on the screen.
Auto collapse field sections
Auto collapse field sections helps you to manage sections in the Fields screen.
When toggled on (green) this setting will only show the fields for the section you are completing; all other field sections will remain collapsed with the fields in those sections hidden. When you tap another section heading the section you were in collapses and the new section expands to show the fields in that section. This is helpful when you have many fields grouped in sections as it can minimize scrolling on the screen to see all the fields. This setting is enabled by default.
Auto next for picklists
Auto next for picklists changes how you move between fields that have picklists in the Fields screen. I applies only to piclists where you can only select one option; for example, Yes or No.
When toggled on (green) this setting automatically opens the next field once you select a picklist option; there is no need for you to tap either Done or Next from the red banner to exit the field after you have made your selection. This is useful when there are many consecutive fields with picklists that you need to complete.
Self assign new jobs
Self assign new jobs lets you assign jobs that you create in the mobile app to yourself.
When toggled on (green) you can choose to assign jobs to yourself or another worker when you create a new job.
Note: You can only create jobs in the vWork mobile app if you have been given the user permission to create jobs by your vWork Administrator.
