All users are assigned permissions to either the vWork web app or the vWork mobile app when their user profile is set up. Some permissions also have different levels that determine how much access to that permission a user has.
In this article
This article explains what the different user permission levels are and how to set these for a user.

Main permission levels
The three main permission levels are:
- Full - The user has full access to the permission and can do anything with it.
- Read-only - The user can view that content but they can't edit the content.
- None - the user can't access this permission. They do not have permission to use this function in vWork.
Additional levels
In addition to the main permission levels there are also two other permission levels that apply to specific permissions. These are:
- Edit Own -The optional 'Optimization' permission also has the 'Edit Own' permission level. This enables a user with this permission to change route optimizations that they have created, but not alter optimizations created by other people.
- Hidden - This additional Mobile Permission level is only used for the Mobile Permission, 'Customers'. It replaces 'None' as a permission level. When selected, Hidden hides Customer information on the vWork mobile app when a worker also has the 'Create Job' permission enabled. This prevents users of the mobile app from viewing and searching for existing customer information. This is useful when you have contractors using the vWork mobile app who you don't want to share your customer information with for privacy and commercial reasons.
How to set permission levels
You can set all permissions for a user to the same permission level by clicking to select the permission level from the top right corner of permissions. When you do this:
- all permissions with a selectable level are set to the level chosen, and
- checkboxes are set to either permission given
if you selected 'Full', or no access
if you selected 'Read-only' or 'None'.
Alternatively, you can customize the individual permissions with different permission level settings. Click to select the preferred option from the permission drop-down list.
Review the General Settings for additional restrictions to permissions
Some permissions are also affected by the settings selected in the General vWork settings and in the Finance settings. These change the behavior of some permissions when the permission is enabled. We recommend you review the General settings to make sure users can do what you need them to do in Work.
