Most of the time, if your Android device has a good data connection, job information is automatically synced between the vWork mobile app and the vWork server. There are, however, times when you may need to manually sync job information to make sure this is up-to-date for both the dispatcher and mobile worker. A manual sync is performed in the vWork mobile app from the vWork menu.

Check the sync activity
To check the sync activity in the vWork mobile app:
- In the Jobs screen tap
in the red banner to open the vWork menu.
- Tap Sync Activity to open the Sync Activity screen.
Note: The dot color provides a quick indicator to show if data is waiting to sync; a green dot shows there is no data to sync and a red dot shows that there is. - The Sync Activity screen opens showing you the most recent job information shared with the vWork server, how your mobile device is connected to the server, and if there are pending job and location updates.
If there are pending job or location updates you can manually sync the vWork app with the server, provided you have a data connection, to ensure the dispatcher has the most up-to-date job information. - When you have reviewed the Sync activity tap Done to return to the Jobs screen.
Manually sync the vWork mobile app
If you have pending job and/or location updates that show in the Sync Activity check you can manually sync the vWork mobile app with the vWork server.
To manually sync the vWork mobile app:
- In the Jobs screen tap
in the red banner to open the vWork menu.
- Tap Refresh Now to manually sync the mobile app.
Note: 'Refresh Now' was previously called 'Sync' in Android. - The Sync in-progress icon rotates to show that syncing is underway. When the sync is complete it no longer displays on the screen.
- Tap the back Android back button at the bottom of the screen.
š”Tip: You can also quickly manually sync your Android mobile device in the Jobs screen by dragging your finger down from the center of the screen.
The app isn't manually syncing - what now?
If you can't get the vWork app to manually sync:
- Follow the steps above to open the Sync Activity screen and check to see if there is data connection.
- Check there is a data connection with the server.
- Check the cellular and data connection icons at the top of your phone. You may be in an area where there is limited cellular service.
- You may also need to check your phone's data settings in the Android settings.
- If you have a good data connection then the next course of action is to restart your device without signing out of the vWork app. When you stay signed in to vWork you preserve the job information you have captured in the vWork app that hasn't synced - even when you restart your device.
- If restarting your mobile app hasn't worked then Bump your app.
- āImportant: Bump deletes the last piece of data you added to a job (e.g., a step completion, a photo or signature you have captured, a custom field you completed). Sometimes the last piece of data added has a sync error and prevents other job information from syncing. This may be all that is required to sync the remaining job data. If you bump data you will need to add it back into the job after the sync is completed.
- To Bump your vWork app tap Bump at the bottom of the Sync activity screen.
