If the vWork app on your iOS mobile device keeps crashing (shuts down for no reason), try these steps.
In this article
This article explains how to manage when the vWork app keeps crashing on your Android mobile device.
The steps are:
- Sync the vWork app with the vWork server
- Restart your device without logging out
- Log out and restart your device
- Reinstall the vWork app
- Send a support request (optional)
Sync the vWork app with the vWork server
❗ Important: Before you log out of vWork make sure you have synced your job information with the vWork server. Job information that isn't synced when you log out is lost and will need to be recaptured.
The steps below briefly explain how to sync your vWork app with the server. If you want more detailed instructions please read the article, iOS: sync your job information from your vWork mobile app with the vWork server.
Note: You must have a data connection enabled and turned on to sync job data. This can be wifi or mobile data.
To sync your job information:
- In the Jobs screen tap
in the red banner to open the menu.
- Tap Sync Activity to see if you have any pending job updates.
- If you don't have data to snc then tap Done and proceed with logging out of the app.
- If you have pending job updates then tap Done and open the menu again. Tap Sync to sync your jobs with the vWork server.
Restart your device without logging out
- Restart your mobile device without logging out.
- Switch your mobile device off and back on again.
- If you can't turn your phone off, the instructions for forcing a restart on your iPhone are here.
Sometimes this is the best first step if data isn't syncing with our server. When you stay signed in to vWork, the job data captured that hasn't synced remains on your mobile device even when you restart the device.
If restarting without signing out of the mobile app doesn't work then proceed to the next step.
Log out and restart your device
- After syncing your device (see above), log out of the vWork app.
Note: if your data won't sync you may need to have your dispatcher complete the job for you on the web app in the Job Editor. Signing out of vWork without syncing will cause you to lose job information that wasn't synced before you signed out.
To log out of the vWork app:
- In the Jobs screen tap
in the red banner to open the menu.
- From the menu tap Log out. A pop-up window appears asking you to confirm that want to log out. Tap Log out.
- In the Jobs screen tap
- Restart your mobile device.
- Switch your mobile device off and back on again.
- If you can't turn your phone off, the instructions for forcing a restart on your iPhone are here.
- Switch your mobile device off and back on again.
- Log back into the vWork app.
Reinstall the vWork app
If logging out and restarting your device didn't fix the problem, the next step is to perform a clean re-installation of vWork from the iOS App Store.
To reinstall the iOS mobile app:
- Sync your jobs with the vWork server and log out of vWork following the instructions given above.
- Uninstall vWork from your mobile device. The iOS instructions for uninstalling an app are here.
- Restart your iOS device.
- Reinstall vWork and log back into the vWork app. If you need help with this, please see the article, iOS: Download the vWork iOS app?
Send a support request (optional)
