You and users of the vWork mobile app can pause any job that has been started. The job shows a status of 'Paused' on the Schedule and Jobs tab.
Jobs may need to be paused when you want to make sure customers are only invoiced for the time that their job is actually being worked on. For example:
- you don't want to charge customers for the time workers spend on breaks
- an unexpected event occurs that requires the job to stop for a period of time while the issue is resolved.
When a job is paused it remains on the worker's schedule as a job that still needs to be completed. The job duration time stops at the time it is paused and doesn't begin again until the job is unpaused.
When the job resumes it shows on the schedule in a second block of time that begins at the time the job is unpaused. The period of time that the job is paused isn't included in the job duration when an invoice is created, although vWork keeps a record of the total time to complete the job including the time that is paused.
Jobs can be paused and unpaused by the dispatcher from the web app and by mobile workers from the mobile app.
If a step is completed by the dispatcher, or by the worker in the vWork mobile app, the job automatically resumes. Custom fields and invoice information can be updated by the dispatcher, or mobile worker in the vWork mobile app, while the job is paused without unpausing the job.
