The Schedule is a gantt chart that shows jobs assigned to workers. It provides an easy way to assign jobs to your workers so you can see their jobs as they fit into their shift by each job's scheduled start time. You can move jobs around the Schedule to arrange them exactly as you want them before publishing jobs to your workers' vWork mobile app.
We have a Worker Schedule and, if you have the Equipment feature added to vWork, an Equipment Schedule that you can use to schedule equipment to jobs.
Schedule Wizard
To get a quick overview of how to use the Schedule take a look at our 'Introduction to the Schedule wizard'. Click here to open it.
We recommend you run through the wizard then create a test job and try it for yourself following the steps given below.
Create and publish a test job using the Schedule
On the Schedule try the following:
Create a new job
Try creating a test job using the New Job button:
- Click 'New Job'.
- Select a job template to open that template in the job editor.
- Add the job details including a test customer and test geocoded address. You may also want to add information to a custom field, or an invoice line item if you have these enabled in the job template. Leave the job unassigned (don't assign a worker to the job).
- Make sure you click 'Create Job' when you are done adding information to the job. The job will show in the left hand panel as unassigned and also on the workbench at the time the job was is scheduled if you added a start time to the job.
💡 Tip: For more information about how to add information to the Job Editor take a look at the article, Create a Job.
Assign a job to a worker and view it in the vWork mobile app
Once you have created a test job - assign it to a test worker.
- On the Schedule drag the test job from the left panel (or workbench) onto a test worker's line in the gantt chart at the time you want to the job to start. This assigns the job to the worker in an unpublished state.
💡 Tip: The job will cover the period of time defined by the job duration that was saved with the job. This may only be a very small block if the job duration is short. YOu can zoom into the schedule to see more of the jobs' details. - Log in to the mobile app as the worker you have assigned to the job to. You won't see the job in the mobile app just yet as it still needs to be published to the worker.
💡 Tip: If you need more information about how set up a mobile worker and log into the vWork mobile app these articles will help: - Click Publish Schedule to publish the job to the test mobile worker's phone.
Complete the job on the mobile app and watch it change status on the schedule
- Complete the job on the phone and see how the job changes on the Schedule as you progress through the job.
